How do I submit my work?

Visit our Submit page, which will have relevant formatting instructions and a submission form for you to submit!

Can I submit previously published work?

Yes — as long as you have permission to resubmit. If your work has previously been featured in another publication, make sure they allow you to resubmit your work first.

Can I submit anonymously?

If desired, you may submit your work under a pseudonym. We still require an email that we can use to correspond with you though.

Do you give preference to works that are submitted for consideration only in print?

During the submissions for our two issues each year, you may submit your work for consideration in print only, digital only, or in both print and digital. For works submitted to both print and digital, your preference is not shared with our selections panel, so all works will be treated equally in this regard. If we decide to exclude a work from our print issue but we still wish to accept it, we will check if you indicated a willingness to have your work posted digitally.

How much will you edit my work?

If we accept your text-based work, we will get in touch with you to inform you that we are in the process of copy editing your work to match our style guide. We will then send you any suggestions we have, as well as our rationale for these suggestions. You have the freedom to accept or contest these suggestions; we will never publish anything without your final approval.

How do I get involved?

Visit our Submit page any day of the year — you will have the opportunity to submit for our print issue or digital-only. We’re also always looking for designers and copy editors, so please fill out the form on our Contact page if you are interested. No experience necessary. We hire our masthead over the summer, so check out our Facebook page for that information. You must be a U of T student to become involved with the Review.

Who is allowed to submit to the UC Review?

Any and all current U of T students are allowed to submit year-round. This includes all UTM, UTSC, and UTSG students from all colleges. University College alumni are also allowed to submit during our Spring issues; submissions for these generally open in January or February.

Who runs the UC Review?

All members of our team are current U of T students. We have archived each leadership team since 2017–18 on our Masthead page for your perusal. The Review has been an ancillary of the University College Literary and Athletic Society (UC Lit) since 2016. The Lit does not influence our selections process or our hiring process. Visit the UC Lit’s website here.

Who is on the UC Review’s selection panel?

Our entire Masthead meets for a blind selections process (where your name is detached from submissions) for our two print editions. We jointly determine which works are accepted for print by a majority consensus. Our Digital Editor determines content accepted for our digital platforms, with inputs from the Editor-in-Chief, Senior Editors, and other masthead members as necessary.
