Hello,
Given the current public health state of emergency in Ontario and the university’s closure of all student spaces, club events, and many offices, I have decided to cancel the UC Review’s in-person launch party for the Spring 2020 ‘Time’ issue.
I believe this is the only socially responsible reaction to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. I dearly wish we could celebrate our contributors alongside all of you, but the health of our city and community must come first.
We will be holding a digital launch for our ‘Time’ issue as soon as it is available. Watch our social media for updates! I ask for your patience, as we are all dealing with the fallout of the pandemic.
In September, we may hold an in-person launch for the start of the Fall term.
To our contributors: I’m sorry we can’t meet in-person this time around. I promise you will still receive a copy of our issue. We will shortly be reaching out to all of you with a Google form where you can provide a mailing address, anywhere in the world, where a copy of the UC Review will be shipped to as soon as it is available.
We will also try to make this mailing option available for everyone else as well. Stay tuned for more information about how this process will work.
Copies of the Review will be available in the Fall, at our UC Clubs Fair in September, and in the Junior Common Room (JCR) of the UC building after that. Come by then to pick up a copy!
Thank you to all of our friends and supporters for your encouragement this past year. The UC Review represents not only the best student art of the college, but also the warm, welcoming spirit that has always been associated with UC. Take care of yourselves and your loved ones in these troubled times. Stay informed, stay safe, and stay artsy.
Yours sincerely,
Tahmeed Shafiq
